New Delhi : Four people were arrested for supplying forged Class 10 and 12 pass certificates to students here, police said Tuesday.
“The kingpin, Mange Ram Acharya, 46, and his associates – Dilip Kumar Shukla, 42, Manoj Kumar Mishra, 31, and Dharamjeet Singh, 21, – were arrested from Gopalpur area in north Delhi June 9,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police I.B. Rani.
“They were running a fake Board of Higher Secondary Education from Gopalpur village area. We laid a trap and sent a policeman to strike a deal,” said Rani.
Police said that a raid was conducted and all the three associates of Acharya were held from his premises. “They demanded Rs.4,000 per certificate. Acharya too was later arrested from his hideout in the village,” said Rani.
During interrogation, they told police that they put advertisements in newspapers for providing certificates of Class 10 and 12 to students who had failed in exams, and affiliation of their “board” to the private schools.
“They also hosted a website www.bhsedelhi.org and showed that 330 schools were affiliated to their board,” said Rani.
The gang had issued thousands of fake certificates so far.
Acharya was previously involved in 17 criminal cases and was also declared proclaimed offender in four of them.
