Islamabad : The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) seemed headed for a simple majority in polls in Pakistan administered Kashmir, media reports said Monday citing unofficial results.
Associated Press of Pakistan reported that as many as 13 PPP candidates had won their seats from different constituencies.
According to the unofficial results, three candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-N, two candidates of Muslim Conference while one independent candidate has emerged victorious.
Elections were held in Pakistani Kashmir June 26.
Dawn said that PPP appeared to have gained simple majority in the legislative assembly elections.
Two people were killed and scores injured as the polls Sunday were marred by widespread violence.
Rival political party workers resorted to armed clashes during the voting for the new 41-member legislative assembly, prompting the authorities to put off the voting in a constituency reserved for Kashmiri refugees in Lahore.
Three million voters were eligible to elect 29 representatives from as many constituencies in the state and 12 for the seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees living in different parts of Pakistan.
The main contest was between the PPP, the PML-N and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, the ruling party in the state.
There was only one woman candidate among the over 421 contestants in the fray that includes independents and representatives of 22 political parties.
