New Delhi: The Sports Authority of India has adopted Jamia Millia Islamia as an Extension Centre for sports such as Athletics, Football, Hockey and Volleyball. These schemes are being promoted by the Sports Authority of India with a view to promote sports at all levels especially the junior level.
The concept is to develop sports standard in schools and colleges who organize specific sports and have shown commendable results.
Schools and colleges actively involved in sports, with adequate infrastructure, and a history of producing national and international sports persons are eligible under this scheme.
Under the above scheme, Jamia will be conducting selection trials from 13th to 15th July 2011 for students in the age group 14 to 17 years and the age for potential sportspersons who have represented the State is 14 to 19 years. The selected boys will get Rs.6,000/- per annum as diet money and kit from the Sports Authority of India.
