Patna: Exactly 30 days after the gruesome killing of Bhajanpur villagers by the local police, Lok Sabha MP of BJP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday visited Forbesganj and met the victims of the June 3 police firing. He claimed he was sent by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to assure the people they will get justice.
Invoking verses of Quran, BJP MP urged the villagers to have patience. “I am your brother in religion. I have come to know about your well being. I will inform the CM about your grievances. I assure you will get justice,” Lok Sabha MP from Bhagalpur told the Bhajanpur villagers.
He also said the village must get the road, and if not the same road, an alternative road. And the victims must get compensation.
He said that BJP MLA of Forbesganj and BJP MP of Araria wanted to accompany him but he did not allow them saying if they did not visit the area so far, they need not go now.
“I wanted to talk to you, that’s why I did not inform the police. I did not want police presence create problem for the villagers,” he added. Hussain spent about two hours in the village.
On June 3 police had opened fire on villagers killing four including an infant and a pregnant woman. CM Nitish Kumar has ordered a judicial probe, but has not announced compensation for the victims, nor has he suspended any police officer involved in the firing.
