Govt committee invites memorandum on introduction of sex education in schools

New Delhi : The Committee on Petitions (Rajya Sabha) has invited written memorandum containing suggestions, views and comments of individuals, institutions and organisations on the recent move of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development to introduce sex education in the form of Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools all over the country latest by November 10.

Those desirous of submitting memoranda to the Committee are required to send two copies (each in English and Hindi) of their submissions to Shri J. Sundrial, Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi – 110001 (Tel.: 011-23034192, Fax: 011-23012007, E-mail: [email protected]).

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Assistant Secretary has appealed to the Muslims to avail themselves of this opportunity and submit their views and suggestions on how the introduction of sex education in schools will break the very moral fabric of society.

"Two petitioners have prayed to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) that there should be a national debate on the subject and a Committee on Petitions under the Chairmanship of Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu,
M.P., Rajya Sabha is examining the prayers of the petitioners and has decided to undertake wider consultations with all the stakeholders including eminent
educationists, sociologists, psychologists, sexologists, spiritual leaders, teachers and parents for generating a national debate on the subject," says a statement of the committee.
