Mubarak declines food, becomes ‘extremely weak’

By IANS/AKI,

Cairo: Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak refuses to eat food and has become “extremely weak”, state news agency MENA reported Wednesday.

Asim Azzam, a doctor who is looking after Mubarak at the hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh resort city, has said Mubarak’s vital signs were stable but he was psychologically in a “bad shape.”

Mubarak, 84, is due to go on trial on charges that he ordered police to fire at protesters who were demanding his resignation. He faces a death sentence if convicted.

He and two of his sons are also charged with corruption. The former president denies all charges.

Mubarak has been in hospital since April. He reportedly suffers from depression and palpitations.
