Beijing : China Tuesday successfully launched a maritime monitoring satellite, Xinhua reported.
The Haiyang-2 orbiter was launched into space at 6.57 a.m. using a Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Taiyuan city in Shanxi province.
The satellite will monitor the environment to prevent maritime disaster.
