New Delhi : The National Human Rights Commission Tuesday issued notices to the home secretary and Delhi Police commissioner over the arrest of social activist Anna Hazare.
An NHRC spokesperson told IANS that the secretary and police commissioner have been asked the reason for arresting Hazare.
“They have been asked why Anna Hazare was arrested; it was a peaceful protest, no violence was involved,” the spokesperson said.
The NHRC has given them two weeks’ time to respond to the notice.
The spokesperson added that the notice was given on the basis of a complaint received by the commission.
