New Delhi: Dalit Christians have vowed their support to Anna Hazare who has launched an all-out campaign for a strong Lokpal Bill to check rising corruption in the country. A Christian organisation Poor Christian Liberation Movement (PCLM) has announced to give its support to the anti-graft movement being led by social activist Anna Hazare.
Christian leader and PCLM president R L Francis said that Anna’s movement reflects people’s anger towards corruption. However, unfortunate thing is that government is consistently ignoring popular will of people.
Francis has expressed surprise over criticism of Anna Hazare by Catholic Bishop Conference of India (CBCI). He wondered that church was portraying Anna, few days ago, as a true hero and suddenly they have realized that he is not hero but a villain. “Dalit Christians are demanding for Church Lokpal for a long time to eliminate corruption in the church. So, we support cause of Anna Hazare and his concern on the issue,” Francis said in a media statement on Thursday.
