Russia expects more tourists from India, China

Moscow : India and China are among the major countries from where Russia expects more tourists, a top Russian official has said.

Other countries that could contribute to the tourist inflow are Japan, South Korea, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, as also the Gulf states, said Alexander Radkov, head of the country’s federal tourism agency.

Russia also expects more tourists from Europe – from Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Spain and Finland.

The tourism chief said foreign tourists are attracted by Russia’s arts and cultural sites, churches and nature.

Authorities also plan to spend 330 billion rubles ($11 billion) on tourism development over the next eight years.
