Srinagar : Dozens of journalists Thursday carried out a peaceful protest here demanding that police stop harassing them.
The protest by journalists and photojournalists working for local, national and international media took place at Press Enclave here in Jammu and Kashmir.
It comes after two photojournalists, a local and a foreigner, were detained by police during a stone pelting incident here last week.
The photojournalists alleged that the police officer in charge of the area had ordered their detention knowing that they were discharging their professional duties.
The officer is also alleged to have accused the local photojournalist of working for the army and the central intelligence agencies.
A police statement issued had denied the allegation, saying the officer’s remarks had been blown out of proportion.
