Tehran : Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has pardoned 1,218 prisoners as a goodwill gesture on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, a media report said.
The announcement comes following a request from judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani to grant clemency to the prisoners as part of the celebrations to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, ISNA news agency reported Sunday.
Muslims across the world end their month-long fast with the celebration of Eid ul-Fitr.
