No question of rejoining Congress: Jagan

By IANS,

New Delhi: YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy Tuesday said he will never rejoin the Congress or align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

However, he was willing to have a post-poll tie-up with any party in Andhra Pradesh except the BJP.

“Returning to Congress is over. We are fighting a battle head on in Andhra Pradesh. If we get the numbers, anybody other than BJP, is acceptable to us, who protects the interest of our state,” Jaganmohan, son of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said in an interview to CNN-IBN.

He also asserted that he will never join the BJP though he said he had enough respect for BJP leader Sushma Swaraj.

“We would never tie up with the BJP at any juncture,” Jaganmohan said.

Attacking the Congress, Jaganmohan said his father had served the party for over 30 years. But after his death, the Congress was trying to malign him.

The MP from Kadapa claimed it was Telugu Desam Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, who gave Janardhana Reddy permission for mining and not his father.

On his assets reportedly increasing by 800 percent, Jaganmohan countered it: “It was not overnight. The 2003-04 figure is not right.”

Referring to his 2009 election affidavit, Jagan said he had sold some of his stakes in Bharti Cements in 2010.

“Because of that, it seems my assets have increased. But actually my assets have come down,” he added.
