“The Planning Commission affidavit shows total lack of sensitivity towards the poor and it has been fortunately rejected by a panel member Abhijit Sen,” said NCP general secretary D.P. Tripathi.

“Only meeting, lunch and rest seems to be the job of the Planning Commission,” he said referring to Hindi author Shrilal Shukla’s classic satire “Rag Darbari”.

The Congress was quick to rebut its ally’s contention, and said the plan panel played a crucial role in the nation’s development.

“We do not agree with it,” said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi about the NCP’s criticism.

He said the commission constituted by first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru has played a crucial role in the nation’s development since the country’s independence.
