Secretary-General Nusrat Ali has expressed his grave concern on the disquieting situation prevailing in Nandigram for quite some time.

In a statement released here Monday, the JIH leader strongly urged the Government of West Bengal to stop with immediate effect the oppressions and injustices meted out to the people, and take such sincere steps as can fulfil the genuine demands of the people and ensure peace in the area.

"Even the parties that are allied with the State government, work for the welfare of labourers, farmers and the poor, and launch from time to time movements of sorts for the solution of their problems in the State, have failed rather miserably to realise the problems faced by the people of Nandigram so much so that the people are faced with the potential threat of dispossession of their lands as well as loss of their lives," he lamented.
