Bhopal:The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday held a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla district to protest the arrest of its tribal leader and former MP Faggan Singh Kulaste in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam in parliament.
The ‘Adivasi Janakrosh Rally’ was also intended to mobilise the tribals against the Congress.
Trying to strike an emotional cord, the BJP asked the tribals to take an oath to struggle until Kulaste returned home a free man.
Kulaste is in Delhi’s Tihar Bail along with another former BJP MP Mahavir Singh Bhagora and Sudendra Kulkarni, a close associate of BJP leader L.K. Advani.
Addressing the rally, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj alleged that the Congress had purchased 19 MPs from different parties, who either voted in favour of the Congress or abstained during the trust vote, called after the Left withdrew support to the Manmohan Singh government on the India-US nuclear deal.
In his address, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Kulaste’s arrest was not only the insult of the tribals of Madhya Pradesh but all the seven crore people of the state.
