Patna: There are six tombs of Muslims among the 70 centrally protected monuments/sites in Bihar. They have been declared as of national importance under Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. They are conserved, preserved and maintained by way of structural repairs on need basis by Archaeological Survey of India of the central government.
The six Muslim tombs include that of Shamsher Khan (Shamshernagar, Aurangabad), Malik Ibrahim Bayu (Bihar Sharif, Nalanda) and Bakhtiar Khan (Malik Sarai, Kaimur). The Muslim monuments/sites also include Jami Mosque in Hajipur, Vaishali.
According to a communication from Union Ministry, in the last three years, about Rs 800 lakhs have been spent on centrally protected monuments/sites in Bihar.
The expenditure incurred on conservation, preservation and environmental development of centrally protected monuments/sites in the State of Bihar during the last three years and the current year, is as under:
