Beijing : More than 36,000 civil service officials in China are investigated annually for allegedly committing crimes while on duty, a report said.
A total of 3,205 county-level procuratorates investigated the suspected crimes, Procurator-General Cao Jianming was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
The report was submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
Cao said grassroots-level procuratorates have been active in fighting duty crimes and such crimes that undermine public interests and safety.
