New Delhi: The real time patient update facility of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre was hailed by officials of hospitals from all across the globe at a conference that concluded here Sunday.
The technology package provides information on the doctor performing surgery, performance of the doctor and statistics on the waiting list for various departments.
“The AIIMS trauma centre has been using the real time update facility on its website since the last few months. This helps integrate all patient-related activities that are going on in various emergency care departments,” said Deepak Agarwal, associate professor of neurosurgery at the trauma centre.
“We had developed our own technology package that will give a real time status on a large screen outside emergency ward. This is has been appreciated by hospital representatives from all over the world that had come to CEUTEH,” Agarwal told IANS, adding that AIIMS was the first do this.
“It is just like the screens displaying schedule and details for passengers at airports. It will also give us feedback on our performance as healthcare professionals,” said Agarwal, also the head of IT related matters at the hospital.
The idea was appreciated at the ‘Cost-effective Use of Technology in Emergency Healthcare’ conference.
Experts said the facility brought more transparency and accountability in health management at public hospitals.
The four-day conference, attended by over 200 healthcare professionals from various parts of the world, rolled out cost-effective models for emergency and trauma care at hospitals.
