New Delhi: Members of Team Anna Thursday met a parliamentary committee examining the Lokpal bill to seek constitutional changes to include conduct of MPs too in the anti-graft law.
They will meet the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) headed by Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi Friday, when social activist Anna Hazare too is expected to join the discussions.
Singhvi told reporters later that the Team Anna members will meet again with the parliamentary panel Friday, after which an internal meeting of the JPC would take place. “We hope to finalise it (Lokpal bill) soon,” he said.
Key Team Anna member and senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan, after the meeting Thursday, told reporters that the discussions were positive.
He was accompanied to the meeting by his father and senior advocate Shanti Bhushan, Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal.
Hazare, who is expected to break his vow of silence soon, is reaching Delhi and may join the JPC meeting Friday.
He has recently said that the anti-corruption movement will campaign in the five states which are going to the polls next year if the government does not get a stringent Lokpal bill passed by parliament before Dec 21, when its month-long winter session is slated to end.
