Probe Ashok Gehlot in missing nurse case: BJP

By IANS,

Jodhpur : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan Tuesday demanded the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in connection with the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi.

The demand comes a day after a Congress legislator’s sister claimed that the chief minister was aware of the CD showing the nurse in a compromising position with sacked cabinet minister Mahipal Maderana.

“It has been alleged that Ashok Gehlot himself was aware of the controversial CD and even told Maderana and Bhanwari Devi to settle the matter. It puts the chief minister Gehlot directly into the picture,” said state BJP president Arun Chaturvedi here.

Chaturvedi was in Jodhpur ahead of the arrival of BJP leader L.K. Advani’s nationwide anti-corruption Jan Chetna Yatra Wednesday.

He said that the chief minister should be under the purview of the CBI’s probe in the case.

Indra Singh, sister of Congress legislator from Luni Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, Monday claimed that the missing nurse met Gehlot one-and-a half-year ago claiming that she was in possession of a CD showing her and Maderana in a compromising position.

Indra Singh has been interrogated by the CBI twice in connection with the case.

Bhanwari Devi went missing from Jodhpur’s Bilara area Sep 1. Maderna was sacked from the cabinet Oct 16 over allegations of his role in her disappearance after she allegedly started blackmailing him on the basis of the CD.
