EU-India children’s culture showcase begins Friday

New Delhi : A week-long partnership between the European Union and India Nov 11-17 will present a children’s cultural showcase in select venues across the country for better cultural understanding and greater youth-to-youth contact.

The four-city EU-Sanskriti Festival 2011 will present visual, literary and performing arts from 13 EU countries in the capital, Kolkata, Guwahati and Chennai.

The festival is a tribute to the legacy of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, in whose memory the country celebrates Nov 14 as Children’s Day.

“It is no coincidence that the festival that EU has dedicated the EU Sanskriti Festival to children and the youth. We wanted to celebrate the Children’s Day and Pandit Nehru’s birthday as well,” Polish ambassador Piotr Klodkowski told reporters Wednesday.
