New Delhi : Supporting the division of Uttar Pradesh into four, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh Wednesday said the split won’t benefit the state’s Chief Minister Mayawati and it is likely that she will not come back to power.
“We have been demanding reorganisation of Uttar Pradesh from last 15 years but despite Mayawati announcing it before the last election, she did not do anything. I don’t think the move will benefit her and I feel she won’t come back to power,” Singh told reporters here.
He said RLD will support the proposal when brought in the state legislative assembly.
On talks about the poll alliance with Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Singh said: “Talks are on but there is a possibility it might not end in a positive way.”
Replying about delay in Congress-RLD ties, he said: “There are many issues, how you will campaign, seat division, so I can’t say anything yet. From our side, we have never mentioned what is happening of alliance except that talks are going on.”
He, however, said that the party was going to take a decision very soon.
