Washington : The United States said Thursday that it would push ahead with a third U.N. Security Council resolution again on Iran for its defiance over its nuclear program.

The United States made the comments after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a report on Thursday saying Iran had made important strides toward transparency about its nuclear activity, but it had yet to resolve key outstanding questions.

“Unfortunately this report makes clear that Iran seems uninterested in working with the rest of the world and the current Iranian government continues to push the country deeper into isolation,” White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

The IAEA report indicated that Iran continued to defy the international community, Perino said.

Pushed by the United States, two U.N. Security Council resolutions have been passed to punish Iran for its defiance over its nuclear program.

Washington has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program. Iran has denied U.S. charges and insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
