Islamabad : At least 15 people were injured when a blast ripped through a cinema in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi Sunday night, media reports said.
The blast took place around 10.30 p.m. inside the Kumhar Cinema in Lee market, Xinhua reported citing Urdu TV channel ARY.
Geo TV put the injured figure at six, while a police official told local media at least 12 people were wounded.
Police said the bomb was fixed under a seat inside the cinema. The explosion led to a stampede among the audience.
The bomb went off during the interval of the film, and more people could have been injured if the explosion had taken place while the movie was going on, police said.
The wounded were taken to hospital, where sources said the people had injuries in their feet and legs and were not in critical condition.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
