Bangalore : The Bangalore office of the global IT major IBM Saturday received a call that explosives were planted within its premises, but it turned out to be a hoax call.
“The call was received by a security guard at about 11 a.m. and the police control room was informed around 1 p.m.,” a police spokesperson said.
A dog squad and a bomb disposal unit of the city police searched the premises for four hours and no explosive was found, he said.
“We gave the all-clear signal at 4.30 p.m.,” he said.
The caller spoke English, the security guard told the police. “We now have to ascertain from where the call was made – whether from a public call booth or a private telephone,” the spokesperson said.
“Since Saturday is a holiday for IBM offices, there were only very few employees in the office,” he added.
