Non-interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs is fundamental to Pakistan’s policy, he added, while speaking to a visiting Afghan parliamentary delegation that called on him Wednesday.

“Pakistan wants to have friendly relations with all ethnic and political groups of Afghanistan. We have made consistent and sincere efforts to improve our relations with Afghanistan,” Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Naek as saying.

He said Pakistan has all along supported Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s peace efforts.

Naek had officiated as Pakistan’s president while Asif Ali Zardari was in Dubai for the treatment of a heart ailment. Zardari returned to Pakistan Sunday night.

Pakistan had boycotted an international conference held in Bonn that focussed on Afghanistan’s future to protest the Nov 26 NATO airstrike that left two dozen soldiers dead in Mohmand Agency.
