Relation between Darul Musannefin and Hyderabad
Prof. Zilli is also planning to stay in Hyderabad for a week to restore and revive the relation of Darul Musannefin with Hyderabad. Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy has an almost century old relationship with Hyderabad. In fact, it was the scholarship (wazeefa) of Rs. 300/-per month of Allama Shibli Nomani from princely state of Hyderabad that was transferred to Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy after the death of Allama Shibli paved the way for the establishment and smooth functioning of Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy in 1914. The present President of Management Committee of Shibli Academy is Mir Nawab Karamat Ali Khan Mufakhkham Jah, Prince of Hyderabad and a direct decedent of last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. Shibli Academy is still functioning as independent research organization without any support from state or central government of India.
Birth of Darul Musannefin
On November 21, 1914, three days after Allama’s death, his trusted students Maulana Hamiduddin Farahi and Maulana Syed Sulaiman Nadvi called a meeting and finally established the Darul Musannefin—The Shibli Academy. Maulana Hamiduddin Farahi was chosen as its president and Maulana Syed Sulaiman Nadvi became the Secretary & Maulana Masood Ali Nadwi was the Manager. The concept behind Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy was to establish a “Think Tank” which can provide the proper literature and academic leadership to the community. The primary objectives of Academy are (i) To nurture and sustain a body of scholarly authors. (ii) To provide a congenial environment for scholars to create, compile and translate literary works of high scholastic and historical value. (iii) To undertake printing and publication of the literary works of the Academy.
Mission to revive Darul Musannefin
Prof. Zilli took over the mantle of Darul Musannefin in March 2008 after the accidental death of Maulana Ziauddin Islahi. In last 3 years, Prof. Zilli attempted to bring back the academy on its original and expected pace. Despite many financial difficulties, he is able to successfully transform the Academy. He made many infrastructural and logistic changes in the Academy. He transformed the salary structure of Academy staff to make it at par with 5th Pay commission of Government of India. He made several trips to different parts of world and India to garner support for Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy. Very recently, he made a trip to Mumbai and Bihar to generate some support for Academy.
