Lucknow: Peace Party got a shot in the arm with the joining of Yashbhadra Singh Monu and Surendra Pratap Singh, both strong leaders from Sultanpur on Tuesday. Party’s national general secretary, Akhilesh Singh also announced that they will be party candidate in the coming assembly elections.
Yashbhadra Singh Monu is presently Block Pramukh of Isauli in Sultanpur. He will also be contesting from Isauli seat in assembly elections. Monu’s father Indrabhadra Singh too was a three time MLA and several times Block Pramukh in Sultanpur. Monu was earlier in Samajwadi Party and then in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). His brother Chandrabhadra Singh Sonu is still in SP.
Responding to a query, Monu remarked: “My brother may be having different political leaning and that is his choice, I am with Peace Party and have full faith in Dr Ayub’s policies.”
The other stalwart Surendra Pratap Singh is also a former Block Pramukh and has been an independent MLA in the past. He has been announced party candidate from Sareni assembly seat.
National General Secretary of Peace Party, Akhilesh Singh announced that several other leaders of other parties are in touch with them and will join the party at an opportune time. Several village pradhans and others also joined Peace Party on the occasion.
