While state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria led the protest in the state capital, leader of opposition in the assembly Ajay Singh Rahul was heading the stir in the financial capital Indore.

Similar protests were being held in the other 48 districts of the state.

“We have decided to observe 2012 as ‘Madhya Pradesh Bachao Year’ against Chouhan’s ‘Aao Banaye Apna Madhya Pradesh’ as the state government has failed to provide fertilisers and electricity to drought hit farmers,” Bhuria told reporters before launching the protest in Bhopal.

He said 100,000 Congress members would court arrest across the state.

State public relations minister Lakshmikant Sharma had told reporters Sunday that the Congress-led UPA government in New Delhi was to be blamed for the fertilisers and power crisis in the state.
