Gandhinagar : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Monday said his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was headed for a “thumping majority” in the elections to the state assembly next month.
In a chat with mediapersons during a Diwali get-together organised at his residence, Modi said the party’s campaign with the theme of ‘Jeetega Gujarat’ was to fight against those who were against Gujarat’s interests.
Commenting on the first list of party nominations for the polls, released in New Delhi Sunday night, Modi said dropping of 13 sitting legislators should not be interpreted as “cutting them down to size”, but it was part of the process of change.
There are 13 women in the list of 74 candidates and more women’s names are expected in the next list for the remaining 108 seats.
Modi said his party wanted more involvement of women.
