Ramallah : Israeli forces rolled into al-Fare’a refugee camp in northern West Bank Tuesday, injuring at least one Palestinian, local residents and medical sources said.
They said that one Palestinian was seriously wounded by Israeli fire as more than 40 military vehicles, including two bulldozers, rolled into the refugee camp after midnight. The army also arrested eight people there.
In a statement sent to the press, Islamic Hamas movement said five of the detainees were from its members.
Despite regular meetings between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators, the Israeli army did not scale down the detention campaigns in West Bank and the night incursions.
Meanwhile, Hamas said the Palestinian security forces have nabbed five of its members in various West Bank cities. The security forces, loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah, crackdown on Hamas for fears that the Islamic movement may plan to take over West Bank by force.
According to Hamas’ statement, the detentions took place in Nablus, Bethlehem and Tulkarem.
