Beirut : Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri formally announced on Tuesday that a presidential session to elect a new president will be postponed till Friday, namely Nov. 23.
Berri said in a statement that the session would be convened at1:00 p.m. (1100 GMT) on Friday without elaborating the cause for the postponement.
It was the fourth delay for the presidential election since September.
The parliament had planned to hold the session on Wednesday to vote a replacement to the incumbent President Emile Lahoud whose term runs out on Saturday, or Nov. 24. But until now, rival Lebanese camps have not agreed on a consensus candidate.
