New Delhi : In the face of opposition from various chief ministers to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday said it does not intrude on the rights of people.
“The NCTC concerns the security of citizens of this country and the country as whole. This anti-terrorism body (NCTC) does not intrude on the rights of the people of this country,” Dikshit told reporters on the sidelines of a function.
Dikshit’s comment came days after Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joined her counterparts from Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Bihar in strongly opposing the NCTC, a brainchild of union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
The chief ministers of other Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states and Left-ruled Tripura have also opposed it.
