Amreli (Gujarat): Even several days after Sahil (11), a resident of Vadia village in Amreli district, succumbed to injuries he sustained after a delivery van hit him on February 24th February, no FIR has been registered by the police against the unnamed driver.
Sahil, a student of sixth standard, was hit on February 24, when he was returning after seeing his relatives off to the railway station. He succumbed to critical injuries on 28th February.

Instead of taking Sahil’s funeral procession to the village graveyard, the crowd of hundreds of people took it to the local police station. The angry crowd was protesting against the delay in filing of the FIR against the driver of the delivery van. This, in spite of the fact, that Sahil’s father, Arif had mentioned the number of the delivery van which had hit Sahil, in the written complaint at the police station.

The crowd agreed to take the funeral procession only after the police assured them that an FIR hadn’t been registered by that time because the police was yet to add one more section into the complaint.
