Mumbai journalists demand release of Kazmi

Mumbai: Journalists, intellectuals and community leaders on Monday here demanded immediate release of senior Urdu journalist Syed Ahmed Kazmi who was arrested last week in Delhi in connection with the Israeli Embassy car attack case. They said Kazmi’s arrest is a threat to truth seeking journalist fraternity in the country.



“Mr Ahmed Kazmi has been arrested for the sole aim to stop the voice of Urdu Journalist, and is a threat to truth seeking Journalist fraternity of this country. This is an attack on freedom of press and the whole journalist fraternity is in deep sorrow and anger. This can be a warning that different journalist who dare to speak truth can be targeted,” they said at the press conference on 12th March.

They condemned the arrest and warned the central government that if Mr Kazmi is not released then they will launch mass protest. The press conference was jointly called by Urdu Patrakar Sangh, Mumbai Aman Committee and many Muslim organizations.
