Himachal BJP recommends names for Rajya Sabha

Shimla : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recommended three names including J.P. Nadda for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh falling vacant April 2, party leaders said Wednesday.

The other two names are Lochen Tulku, head of a monastery in Lahaul and Spiti district, and Chander Sen Thakur, a former legislator, state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti told reporters here.

Nadda, who resigned as state forest minister in 2010 following his appointment as a party general secretary, is a legislator from Bilaspur.

The Rajya Sabha seat falls vacant following the expiry of Congress member Viplov Thakur’s term.
