Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday asked government officials to prepare a blue print to reduce the distance between New Delhi and Lucknow.
The directives were issued at a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister in which he took stock of the pending and ongoing projects in the Public Works Department (PWD), Tourism and the Forest ministry.
Seeking a major overhaul of the infrastructure projects in the state, Yadav asked PWD officials to expedite work on all bridges whose foundation stones were laid prior to May 2007 when his father and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav demitted office as the UP chief minister.
Asking officials to complete work on all such projects which had been stopped by his predecessor Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav set a deadline of one year to complete all such projects.
He also warned officials that no sub-standard construction material should be used in road laying and making of bridges and asked them to prepare a road map to connect all district headquarters with four-lane roads. The chief minister also asked officials to prepare the feasibility report to connect Lucknow to neighbouring Nepal via Bahraich.
He also asked officials to create more awareness in cultural, religious and historical tourism and to make adequate publicity of the same.
