New Delhi: The Congress Saturday rubbished opposition parties’ allegation of policy paralysis in the party-led United Progressive Alliance and said the launch of nuclear-capable missile Agni-V showed that the government was not diffident about taking decisions.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said a government afflicted with policy paralysis will not take significant geo-strategic decisions.
“The missile test clearly indicates that this is a government, which is not diffident about taking decisions. A government afflicted with policy paralysis will not take significant geo-strategic decisions,” Tewari told reporters.
The party’s statement came a day after the release of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s letter to Defence Research and Development Organisation chief V.K. Saraswat congratulating the officers, scientists and staff of the organisation for the launch of Agni-V.
She said the launch of the missile Thursday was a significant achievement “of which our nation can be proud” of.
Tewari said levelling allegations against the government which had carried out successful launch of long range missile was “ridiculous”.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party which made allegations of policy paralysis, Tewari said the opposition party had not been able to solve its internal contradictions.
He also blamed the opposition for stalling crucial legislations in parliament and said people concerned about policy paralysis should convince the opposition to help in passage of pending bills.
