Kolkata: In the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2012result declared on 17th May, 406 students (all Muslims) of Al-Ameen Mission have got success – 165 in Medical and 241 in Engineering. The Medical category students have got ranks within 1800 and those in Engineering category are within 15000 ranks – it means that they will be able to get admission in reputed institutions of government and private for undergraduate courses of medical and engineering.
Nasir Sheik stood rank 42 and Maha Ashraf Kazi stood rank 59 — they are top Muslim rankers in West Bengal JEE Medical, 2012. Nasir Sheikh is student of Al-Ameen Mission of Howrah and Maha Ashraf Kazi is a student of Guidance, a premier Muslim-run JEE coaching institute in Kolkata. Some other Muslim institutions like Educare have also showed good performance in JEE 2012.

Beating poverty, students of Al-Ameen Mission have cracked WB JEE 2012 –while 165 have got ranks within 1800 in Medical, 241 have got ranks within 15000 in Engineering. Some students are ranked within 100. But top Muslim rankers in Medical are from Al-Ameen Mission of Khalatpur, Howrah district. Al-Ameen Mission student Nasir Sheik stood rank 42 in West Bengal JEE, Medical 2012. Not only Nasir Sheik, under the physically challenged category, Mission student Shafikul Mistry stood rank 7 in JEE Medical. Other good rankers in JEE medical this year from Al-Ameen Mission include Rubel Hossain, Sawkat Sk, Sk Ajimuddin, Yusuf Pasha, Sattar Hossain, Md Jasim Ali, Mampi Khatun, Jamirul Islam, SkJahirul Haque, SkSajahan, RijiaParvin and many others both in Medical & Engineering Joint Entrance Examination, 2012.
TwoCircles.net talked to Nasir Sheik, topper in WBJEE Medical this year among the Muslim students. Nasir told TCN that, he is first generation learner in his family. He is student of Al-Ameen Mission. His village is Kaikhali under the Kalna Police Station of Burdwan District. His father Karim Sheik & Mother Nasira Bibidid not get formal education. The family depends on a small agricultural field. Karim is working in the field as labourer and earning not more than Rs 3000 per month.

After completing Secondary examination Nasir took admission in Al-Ameen Mission in class XI. This year he gave Senior secondary Examination and also JEE. Nasir said, he has only brother who is studying in class eight. Al-Ameen Mission Secretary Nurul Islam came to his home and he took him into the Mission with special care. Under the guidance of Al-Ameen Mission he achieved the goal. Mission kept him nearly free of cost with lodging, food, studying and JEE coaching.
There is no hospital in the 10 km of his village. After becoming a doctor Nasir wants to give his service to his village to the poor people like their family. He says he offers prayers five times a day and Allah has given him reward.

He also thanks Mission Secretary M Nurul Islam and teachers and staff.NasirSheik is sure to get chance to study in MBBS in one of the best Medical Colleges of the State — Calcutta Medical College & Hospital. He wants to do postgraduate course after completing MBBS as a Child Specialist.
Shafikul Mistry, a Physically Challenged Young student of Al-Ameen Mission stood Rank 7 in JEE Medical under the Physical Handicapped quota. Shafikul comes from Nabinganj of Hingalganj, under the Sunderban Island of South 24 Parganas. His home was destroyed in a storm `Aila’ few years back. His father, daily labourer cannot work now due to age problem. Seven members of his family now are living in a temporary hut, but meritorious Shafikul got special assistance from Al-Ameen Mission with all support for JEE coaching.

Sk Rubel Hossain, stood rank 49th in JEE Medical. Another succesfull candidate of Al-Ameen Mission, Rubelalso comes from a very poor family of village Balutungi of Murshidabad District. He studied up to secondary (Madhyamik) in Al-Ameen Mission’s Dhuliyan Campus. But he got JEE coaching and studying Higher Secondary in Mission’s Patharchapuri campus in Birbhum District. His father Altaf Skis unable to work. His two elder brothers dropped out from School and are working as construction labourer. Eldest brother RajuSkwas sending some money to his youngest brother Rubel to maintain cost of hostel life though Rubelwas studying free of cost in Al-Ameen Mission. His brother wants to see him as a Cardiologist. Because his father stopped working as mason due to cardiac problems. Now they are worried about admission fees of Medical College. Because few reserved money spent on marriage of their four sisters.
Yusuf Pasha, another student of Al-Ameen Mission got rank 77th in JEE Medical. His father is a daily labourin their village Shanko of Burdwan District. Once for poverty, Pasha had almost decided to drop out but then Al-Ameen Mission came up and offered support for all the cost of Hostel and Studying and JEE coaching etc. So, he is very grateful to Al-Ameen Mission that it they had not supported him he would have stopped study few years ago. Now he is thinking about cost of study in Medical. He thinks Mission will help him as previous.
Another student of Al-Ameen Mission SattarHossain comes from a Mason’s family of South Dinajpur District. He stood rank 81 in medical. They are 9 sons& daughters. Before joining the mission two years back Sattar was working as helping hand of his father who is basically a Mason. To maintain the family he also engaged in the night to a bandparty.
Maha Ashraf Kazi, Rank 59, Medical
MampiKhatun stood rank 304 in JEE Medical. She is also student of Al-Ameen Mission. She comes from a very poor family of village Harishpur, under the Dhantala Police Station of Nadia district. Her father is a tailor, but due to lack of work now he is running a small grocery shop in his village to maintain the family.TCN talked to MampiKhatun. She said, her father Moslem Ali read upto class III and Mother MampiMafia Bibi did not go to school ever. Mampi’s father Moslem Ali told TCN that, Mampi is the only student in this village who is studying in Science stream in senior Secondary (HS). There is no graduate in their village now, said Moslem. He has a dream his daughter becomes a doctor and she will succeed with the grace of Allah. He mentioned that though his wife did not go to school but she can read Quran and she always taught Quranic verses to her children. The village has tradition to get Islamic education, not modern education, he said. MampiKhatun said: She wants to be a gynecologist. Becauseshe has seen Muslim women being attended by male doctors even for female diseases. So, Mampi’s aim is to become a doctor. She will try to give her best service to the poor people in the rural areas.
SawkatSk of Al-Ameen Mission stood rank 69 in JEE Medical. He hails from Ragunathganj of Jangipur of Murshidabad, under the constituency of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. His father Islam Skmaintained his family by stitching and sellingof jute bags in the local market. Sawkattook admission in Al-Ameen Mission in the class eleven. Due to poverty he could not give the hostel fees in full. Most of the fees reduced by the Mission and it also provided him JEE coaching in the Mission’s own organization Al-Ameen Study Circle. He wants to be a cardiologist in future.
Jamirul Islam stood rank 202 in JEE Engineering. His father engaged in agricultural field in a remote village Gopalpur of North Dinajpur district. His father could not maintain the life properly of their eight family members. They have only a Bigha agricultural land. Al-Ameen Mission waived most of the fees of Coaching, Hostel etc.
Jasim Ali of Hasnecha of South 24 Parganas, a student of Al-Ameen Mission got rank 71 in medical, SkJahirulHaque of Burdwan stood Rank 718 in Engineering, SkSajahan of Khirpai of West Medinipur ranked 901 in Engineering, AlminaKhatun of Ajodhya Village of Jangipara, under the Hooghly District gets rank 463 in Medical. Last year her rank was above 2000. SkAjimiddin of Village Chakundi of Hooghly district stood rank 339. RaziaParvin’s rank in Medical 133, MirajunNahar has got 229rank in medical.

There are many students of Al-Ameenwho have got high ranks in the JEE of West Bengal this year. Al-Ameen Mission’s founder Secretary M Nurul Islam told TCN that, all the poor students are seeking our help for admission fees of Medical & Engineering college. We will try our best, but how we manage it is worrying us. All the students are our son and future assets of Muslim society of West Bengal. We have to do for them at any cost, saidMr Islam. He appealed to kind hearted people to help the poor students those who have got high ranks in JEE Medical & engineering in West Bengal.
Kolkata’s student Maha Ashraf Kazi stood rank 59 in JEE Medical. She is studying in Lady Brabourn College in Kolkata. She has taken coaching from Guidance, a premier JEE Coaching centre under the central Government Scheme without any cost for minority students. Maha Ashraf’s father Ashraf Kazi is a Pediatric by profession in Kolkata. They are originally from a village in Hooghly district. Maha spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia as his father was working there and living with family. Her Mother told TCN that, Maha Ashraf joined a school in Kolkata in the class five. Maha Ashraf is now willing to become a gynecologist in future. She is so happy when TCN informed her that she is topper among the Muslim girls rankers in JEE Medical in West Bengal. The chief manager of Guidance Mr Mahfazur Rahman told TCN that, they are conducting separately JEE coaching for Minority Students free of cost under the Scheme of Minority Affairs Ministry of India in this year. Many students from the centre have got ranks in both medical and engineering this year, MrRahman said.
Another Minority JEE coaching Centre in Kolkata Educare Institution has also shown good performance in JEE this year. The main director and JEE expert of Educare Institution Dr. MosarrafHossainsaid that GolamGausGazi, who comes from very poor family of Magrahat of South 24 Parganas, stood rank 367 in JEE Medical. He is from Educare Institution. Another student HabibTanvir of Maldah district got rank 400 in Medical,FarhadHossain of Hooghly got rank 1249 in Engineering. Another eight students of Educare Institution have got chances to study in either Medical or Engineering in West Bengal this year.
