Patna : The parents of an engineer who has gone missing after being allegedly arrested in Saudi Arabia and deported to India have decided to stage a hunger strike to know his whereabouts.
The father of 35-year-old Fasih Mehmood told IANS that he and his wife plan to stage the protest in front of the Saudi Arabian embassy in New Delhi.
The engineer, who hails from a village in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, was reportedly arrested in Saudi Arabia May 14 for alleged terror links in India.
The arrest followed a request from Indian authorities, according to published reports.
His family, particularly his parents and young wife, are desperately in search of information to know what happened to Mehmood.
His father, Firoz Ahmad, is in charge of the Benipatti primary health centre in Madhubani district.
Ahmad said neither Saudi authorities nor the Indian government had told them about Fasih’s arrest.
Fasih’s wife Nikhat Parween had told IANS earlier that she had approached the external affairs and home ministries but in vain.
Mehmood, a resident of Badhsamela village in Darbhanga, about 200 km from here, worked with a company in Saudi Arabia. He is a product of an engineering college from Karnataka.
