Islamabad : Pakistan is plagued by a massive power crisis, with a shortfall of 7,500 MW, a media report said Friday.
Several cities in Punjab province have been facing 14 to 20 hours of loadshedding daily, Geo Tv reported.
The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) said the problem is due to inadequate supply of oil and gas to power generating plants, leading to a decrease in production.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said resolving the power crisis is his government’s top priority.
