Tehran : Iran will build another nuclear power plant in the country’s Bushehr city by early 2014, a top official said.
The 1,000 MW project will commence next year, Xinhua reported Sunday quoting the official media.
Bushehr is already home to Iran’s first nuclear plant built with Russian help.
The new plant will boost the country’s power production, Fereydoon Abbasi Davani, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation, said.
The development comes after a two-day talks this week in Baghdad between Iran and the US, France, Russia, Britain, China and Germany on the country’s nuclear programme.
The West accuses Iran of trying to build nuclear weapons in the garb of an energy programme while Tehran says it is meant to generate electricity for civilian use.
Both sides will hold another round of talks in Moscow June 18-19.
