Ex-NIA chief remains ill

Kochi : Radha Vinod Raju, the first chief of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), remained in critical condition here Wednesday, a senior doctor said.

“His condition continues to be the same as yesterday,” said V.P. Gangadharan, medical oncologist who has been treating him for the past one year.

Raju has been a chronic leukaemia patient and now has a complicated lung infection.

A decorated Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Raju was last month made a member of the advisory board by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to assist the CBI in probing bank, commercial and financial frauds.
