Beijing : A Chinese company has sent 10,000 tablet computers to Thailand, where the government plans to hand the devices to grade 1 primary school students.
The tablets were sent by the Shenzhen Scope Scientific Development Co Ltd., the China Daily reported Thursday.
Captain Suraphol Navamawat, an official of Thailand’s information and communications technology ministry, said the Chinese company will deliver 400,000 tablets by August.
The firm will be shipping around 12,300 tablets every day for four days a week till August.
The company has signed another contract for 500,000 more tablet computers, and will start sending these after the initial order of 400,000 tablets is completed.
The Thai government plans to hand out one million tablets to grade 1 primary school students as part of the “One Tablet per Child Programme”.
