Hyderabad: Activists of Mualna Azad National Urdu University action committee staged a dharna at the university’scity center located in AP haj house on Wednesday. They were protesting against alleged ongoing irregularities in the sole Urdu university of the nation.
In recent months the protestors have become more aggressive in their demand of action against Urdu university administration. This time they demanded a full fledge CBI enquiry into alleged irregularities in faculty recruitment, and financial matters of distance education department. They also sought immediate removal of non-Urdu staff that according to them was selected by bending the rules.
This dharna was organized under the guardianship of senior CPI leader and former Member of Parliament Syed Aziz Pasha. Speaking on the occasion he said “The basic aim for the formation of Urdu university was to promote Urdu language and to provide employment to Urdu speakers, but unfortunately this aim is dying down due to the attitude and policies of govt and university administration.” He also termed the appointment of non-Urdu speakers on the high posts of MANUU as injustice to the Urdu speakers.
President of MANUU action committee Syed Tariq Quadri accused vice chancellor and screening committee as directly responsible for the ongoing irregularities. He even alleged that amount granted by the government for the promotion of the Urdu language is being used improperly by the university administration. He said action committee is going to meet AP governor to submit him the memorandum on this issue and action committee is also planning to do a sit-in protest in the administrative building of MANUU.
