Hyderabad : The Enforcement Directorate Friday questioned YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in illegal assets case at the Chanchalguda Central Jail here.
A team of ED officials questioned the MP in the case registered against him under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The questioning in the presence of Jaganmohan Reddy’s counsel began at 10 a.m. and continued till 5 p.m.
A special CBI court on July 6 allowed ED to quiz Jagan, as the MP from Kadapa is popularly known, in jail for 14 days.
The court permitted the central agency to question Jagan from July 7 to July 21. However, the ED officials began questioning a week later.
The ED team comprising officials from both Delhi and Hyderabad will question Jagan again on Saturday.
The central agency is believed to be grilling him with regard to the foreign investments which flowed into Jagati Publications.
The company, which publishes Telugu daily “Sakshi”, reportedly received investments from firms based abroad in return for the favours doled out to them by the then government of Jagan’s father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The ED has already booked Jagan for alleged violations of PMLA and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The ED last month questioned industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, suspended IAS official B. P. Acharya and another bureaucrat K. V. Brahmananda Reddy in the jail in the same case.
Jagan was arrested by the CBI on May 27. The High Court on July 4 dismissed his bail petition. He has now approached the Supreme Court for the bail.
