Human Rights: 2-day state-level consultation begins in Patna today

Patna: In the backdrop of large scale violations of human rights of the marginalized including minorities in Bihar in past few years – and recently in the name of terror investigation – Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), a Delhi-based group, has organized a two-day state level consultation beginning today (Saturday) on human rights and law.

The consultation is being held at A N Sinha Institute of Social Sciences, in front of Gol Ghar in Patna. Human Rights Activists, Journalists and Students will be participating from different districts of the state of Bihar.



“The objective of this workshop is to analyze Human Rights violation and issues as well as to establish Legal Aid Centre in districts in order to provide legal support,” said the organizers in a press statement on Friday.

Senior Human Rights Lawyer at the Supreme Court of India and Founder of HRLN, Colin Gonsalves and several other eminent activists and experts will be part of the consultation.



Topics to be discussed at the consultation include Police Brutality in Bihar, Arrests in the name of terror, Rights of persons at the time of arrest, Rights of prisoners, Legal intervention and building a legal aid network in Bihar, Atrocities against Dalit and Women in Bihar.
