Delhi seeks action against PWD engineers

New Delhi : The Delhi government will write to the Central Public Works Department seeking strict action against three PWD engineers for dereliction of duty as the gaps in a bridge in east Delhi were not repaired, an official said Thursday.

Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, inspecting the bridge, found gaps in metal casing in the bridge and immediately ordered the transfer of the three PWD engineers from the maintenance zone.

“We have recommended to CPWD to to take strict action against the transferred officials,” said a government official.

The government has also issued notice to the construction company AFFCON, and also debarred it for future projects.

“AFFCON is being debarred from all future projects of PWD,” said Chauhan, in a statement.
