Lucknow : Three people were Tuesday electrocuted in Uttar Pradesh while one of them, a teen-aged boy, was trying to hook main supply lines to illegally draw electricity, police said.
The incident took place in Dostpur area of Sultanpur, 165 km from here.
Vikas, 13, was trying to steal power from a pole through ‘kantiya’ – a hook used to draw electricity without paying for it, said a police official.
As the boy was electrocuted, his father, Jagdamba Tiwari, 46, and a neighbour, Sandeep, 20, went to rescue him but they too were electrocuted. All the three died on the spot, Sultanpur Superintendent of Police Alankrita Singh told IANS.
Paniced villagers called the police, fearing that electricity supply might spread across the village and electrocute more people. The police ordered the power supply to be cut off.
